Psychodynamic Therapy for Meaningful Change
Beacon Psychotherapy is a boutique practice in Los Angeles offering psychodynamic therapy for people ready to understand the patterns that shape their relationships and sense of self.
The Approach
You've likely tried the standard approaches. Therapy that feels supportive but doesn’t quite reach what needs changing. Insights that fade between appointments. The sense that you're describing your life more than transforming it.
Real change requires understanding the deeper patterns—the relational templates, identity structures, and defensive operations—that organize your emotional life. This is the territory of psychodynamic work.
This approach is for people ready for that depth. You might be navigating relational patterns that keep repeating despite your best efforts. Working through questions of identity and direction that feel urgent and complex. Or recognizing that the ways you've learned to protect yourself are now limiting you.
The common thread: you're looking for a different level of engagement—one that takes seriously the complexity of how we become who we are.
What to Expect
Initial Consultation (Phone): A 15-20 minute conversation to discuss what you're looking for and whether this approach makes sense for your situation. No charge.
Getting Started: We'll discuss the structure and frequency that makes sense for your work—whether that's once, twice, or more sessions per week. Sessions are 50 minutes.
Collaborative Care: If you're working with a psychiatrist or other providers, I coordinate care to ensure everyone is aligned. This integrated approach is part of how depth work functions best—not in isolation, but as part of a coherent treatment framework.
Fees: Individual therapy is $400 per session. Couples work is $600 per session. I provide superbills for out-of-network insurance reimbursement.
This is therapy for people who want to change, not just cope. It's for those willing to examine not just what's happening in their lives, but why the same patterns keep emerging. The work can be challenging—it asks you to look at difficult truths about yourself and your relationships. But it's also the kind of therapy that creates lasting structural change rather than temporary relief. You leave understanding yourself in ways that reshape how you move through the world.

About
Jack Irmas is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and psychodynamic therapist based in Los Angeles. He completed his MSW at USC and a two-year psychodynamic fellowship at the Wright Institute Los Angeles, where he trained in contemporary relational and psychoanalytic approaches.
Jack works with men navigating intimacy and relational patterns, young adults working through questions of identity and direction, and couples seeking to understand the deeper dynamics that shape their relationship. He’s drawn to psychodynamic work because it takes seriously the complexity of how we become who we are—the family histories, the internalized pressures, the ways people unconsciously hold themselves back from what they actually want.
Beyond his clinical practice, Jack supervises other therapists and teaches clinical supervision. This work keeps him engaged with the theoretical foundations of psychodynamic practice and deepens his understanding of how people change.
Beacon Psychotherapy operates as a boutique practice with a limited caseload, allowing for the depth and continuity that intensive work requires. Jack coordinates care with psychiatrists and other providers when appropriate, ensuring an integrated approach to treatment.
